Your hour wage isn't your real purchasing power. You need to pay the federal and provincial income taxes, the Pension Plan and the Employment Insurance. Beyond that, your purchasing power is reduced by the Sales Taxes, federal and provincial.
I used the Payroll Deductions Online Calculator from Canada Revenue Agency-CRA and the WebRAS from Québec Revenu to find how much is the monthly Net Income and deducted the Sales Taxes from it. There is no way to buy services and goods without paying them. Therefore, your salary value is decreased by the Sales Taxes (QST, RST, PST, GST, HST).
